Mw 8.0 Java, Indonesia
updated 10 June 2022

On 9 June 1867 a major earthquake occurred in Java, Indonesia. The seismic event occurred at 20:51 UTC and had an estimated moment magnitude (Mw) 8.0.

Critical planetary geometry occurred on 5 and 8 June, in particular Earth's alignment with Venus and Saturn. In addition, critical lunar geometry occurred on 7-8 June, resulting in two lunar peaks reaching index 13 and 14 respectively. Part of this lunar geometry were the Moon's alignments with Mars on 7 June and with Jupiter on 8 June.
