On 19 August 2018 a strong earthquake occurred in the Fiji Region at a depth of 420 km. The seismic event occurred at 04:28:58 UTC and had an estimated moment magnitude (Mw) 6.8. It was an aftershock of a great earthquake that occurred several hours earlier.
